Council approves planning recommendations, health contract, tree programs and tax‑rate housekeeping

Council approved several routine and land‑use items during the Sept. 15 meeting:

- Planning items: Council approved the Planning Commission recommendation for New Vista Enterprises (Gesu Church) to allow a parking setback on Miramar Blvd. as phase two of an outdoor learning space, conditioned on meeting roadway standards and that marked parking spaces be approved by the Chief Building Officer and Police Chief. Council also approved the Planning Commission recommendation for Drees Homes at 2660 Milton Road permitting demolition of the existing house and site‑plan approval for a new single‑family home, conditional on a development agreement and posted bond; Board of Zoning granted a 3.5‑inch variance for the left side yard.

- Public health contract: Council approved a two‑year contract with the Cuyahoga County Board of Health for 2026 and 2027; Mayor Brennan said contracting is less expensive than establishing a municipal board.

- Trees: Council approved advertising for the 2025 tree maintenance program (approx. 39 trees for removal and trimming) and the 2025 fall tree planting program (approx. 155 trees), each with a contractor requirement to notify property owners at least seven days in advance.

- Tax rates: Finance Director Katie Iaconis summarized that Resolution 2025‑46 confirms 2026 tax rates as submitted to the Cuyahoga County Budget Commission; council approved the resolution.

All the above motions passed on roll call with all council members voting "aye."
