Council approves Bangert plat recombination, reopens sidewalk proposal and hears mayoral infrastructure update
Summary
The council approved a recombination plat for 246 Jefferson Rd and 148 Plantation Rd (4–0, one recusal), voted to reconsider a sidewalk proposal and tasked Council member Fred Johnson with soliciting bids, and heard the mayor outline crosswalk and road repair work and a forthcoming SPLOST 2027 IGA.
During New Business, Craig and Theresa Bangert submitted a recombination plat for 246 Jefferson Rd and 148 Plantation Rd, supported by a 1950s plat and a recent survey. Council member Meagan Cundiff moved to accept the changes; Council member Eric Carlson seconded. The council approved the plat 4–0; Council member Eric Wright recused himself from the vote.
The council earlier accepted the draft minutes of the Nov. 17, 2025 meeting and the financial statement for November 2025; both actions passed by 5–0 votes after motions by Council member Eric Wright and seconding by Council member Hilda Kurtz.
Council member Fred Johnson moved to reconsider the sidewalk proposal; Council member Meagan Cundiff seconded and the motion passed 5–0. Mayor Stephen Goad asked Council member Johnson to begin the necessary preparations and seek bids to move the sidewalk work forward.
Mayor Goad also reported planned crosswalk work on Elder Road and in front of the Town Park and asphalt repair needed on Hillsboro Road. He said the SPLOST 2027 intergovernmental agreement (IGA) will be presented for council consideration at the January meeting. With no further business, the council adjourned at 8:36 PM.
