The Urbana City Council approved three notable items on March 3.
Council approved a Board of Control recommendation to purchase two 2026 Ford Utility police vehicles from Integrity Ford for $89,381.36 and contracting P&R Communications for outfitting at $49,736, a combined $139,117.36 to be charged to the Police & Fire Levy Capital Improvement Fund; the motion passed by roll call 7-0. Director of Finance Matt Wellbaum told council the purchase came in under the $150,000 budgeted amount and indicated the city intends to sell the replaced cruisers on GovDeals.
Council also adopted Ordinance 4552-26, replacement pages to the Codified Ordinances published by Walter Drane to keep city code current with state code updates. The first-reading housekeeping measure passed 6-1 (Mr. Scott voted no). Finally, Resolution 2416-26 appointing Director of Administration Spencer Mitchell as substitute for Mayor Bill Bean at an upcoming Champaign Health District Advisory Council meeting passed 7-0.
No additional budget appropriations were reported for these items. The council's next regular meeting is scheduled for March 17, 2026.
