Police report: officer uninjured in cruiser crash; finance and community items approved

Police Chief Michael Maynard told the council that Officer Flores was involved in a crash during the weekend storm; Flores was uninjured. Chief Maynard said the department limited responses that evening for safety and that staff member Coughlin will be able to pull parts from an old, non-running cruiser to repair the damaged vehicle.
Fiscal Officer Alisha Burke requested and the council granted authority to reallocate money between village funds as necessary to meet obligations in fiscal year 2026. Burke also noted that the U.S. Mint has stopped producing pennies; the council decided that any 1–4 cent overage on cash payments will be applied as a credit to the customer’s next monthly balance rather than changing utility rates.
The council approved a $500 budget for a Shelter House Valentine's event and recorded that Council Member Lisa McDorman will coordinate food trucks for the 2026 season. During public feedback, a resident asked whether residents could place 'no data center' signs Ashville is distributing; Mayor Thomas said they could. Daniel Huggett asked how Ashville could provide water to support a large project; the question was not answered during the meeting and was recorded for follow-up.
