At an initial outreach meeting, turnout indicated mixed sentiment: of about 20 residents, three were opposed to changing current arrangements and most were undecided, seeking more information.
Trustees said Ohio Revised Code allows a township to contract for single-hauler service but stressed that any contract must be carefully written and presented to residents in public meetings. The committee planned additional public meetings and to post drafts on the township website before the trustees consider any contract recommendation.
Township leaders said potential issues include service types, senior discounts, business exemptions, container standards and road wear implications; the committee will study options and public feedback before any contractual commitment.
