Norwich Township opposes Ohio American Water rate hike, asks PUCO to reject request

The Norwich Township Board of Trustees voted in September 2009 to object to Ohio American Water’s proposed multi-year rate increases and to ask the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) to reject the request.
Trustees described the proposed schedule of increases in the OAW filing (a series of percentage increases across 2010–2013) and said the cumulative impact would be significant for affected Township residents. The board adopted a resolution objecting to the request and authorized the fiscal officer to forward the resolution to PUCO, the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel and elected officials (motion #090908.03).
Trustees said they would work with neighboring jurisdictions to oppose what they described in the resolution as an "unfair, excessive" increase and encouraged residents to voice their concerns to PUCO and state legislators. The board also authorized the chairman to sign a letter as part of a wider organized effort opposing the proposed rate hike.
