Corwin council swears in new member, elects pro‑tem and completes routine business

Corwin Village Council carried out routine organizational business at its Jan. 12, 2026 meeting, including swearing in a newly elected councilman, electing a President Pro‑Tempore and approving year‑end administrative items.
Mayor Jess Cordery administered the Oath of Office to Kevin Cummins, whose term runs through Dec. 31, 2029. Councilman Cummins moved to approve the Dec. 8, 2025 meeting minutes; Councilman Mumma seconded and the motion carried by voice vote (reported 4 Aye / 0 Nay). Councilman Schreier nominated Cummins to serve as President Pro‑Tempore for 2026; Cummins accepted and the nomination passed by voice vote (all members Aye).
Clerk-Treasurer Debra R. Femmer reported, "The 2025 books are closed, W-2's have been mailed; working on all the year end reports," and said those reports (including the Hinkle Report) will be filed before her scheduled surgery at the end of January; Mayor Cordery volunteered to pick up mail while she recovers. Ms. Femmer also said Councilman Cummins' name needs to be added to the village's Star Ohio account and later to the primary bank account; she will supply the necessary form.
On finance matters, Councilman Cummins moved to pay the bills; Councilman Mumma seconded and a roll-call vote was reported carrying the motion 4 Aye / 0 Nay. Councilman Cummins then moved to adjourn; Councilman Schreier seconded and the meeting was adjourned by voice vote (reported 4 Aye / 0 Nay).
