The Glendale City Council on June 30 adopted a resolution officially certifying the results of the June 2, 2026, general municipal election.
City Clerk Dr. Suzie Abajian reported that 45,540 ballots were cast in the municipal election, yielding a voter turnout of 39.95%, which the clerk said was 3.67 percentage points higher than the previous municipal election. The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder certified the canvass on June 26, 2026, the clerk said.
The council then considered a resolution reciting the fact of the election and certifying those results. After a motion and a second, the council conducted a roll-call vote; the clerk announced the resolution adopted. During the roll call the clerk recorded affirmative votes by Councilmember Asatryan, Councilmember Brotman and Councilmember Gharpetian, the presiding official indicated a yes vote and Councilmember Ara Najarian was marked absent for the vote. The clerk confirmed the resolution was received and adopted.
The certification begins the formal transition after the election and clears the way for the oaths of office administered later in the meeting. The council did not discuss challenges to the canvass during the session.
