Mayor announces new Civic Center hours and postpones Beeline transit study to July 14

Mayor Ara Kassakhian told the council the city will implement new Civic Center public-counter hours beginning Friday, July 3, shifting in-person counter service to Monday through Thursday while keeping online and phone services available on Fridays. “This change helps reduce operating costs while maintaining convenient access to city services for residents, businesses as well as visitors,” the mayor said.
The mayor said in-person counter service at City Hall, the Municipal Services Building and the Perkins Building will remain available Monday through Thursday and that Fridays will continue to offer online and phone services. The changes, Mayor Kassakhian said, have been posted on the city website and social media.
Separately, the mayor requested postponing Item 10A (the Beeline comprehensive operational analysis and integration study final report and recommendations) to the July 14 council meeting so the newly seated councilmember can participate in the discussion and decision.
The announcements included routine community-event reminders such as a Women-in-STEM panel (July 1) and July 4 pool-party activities; the city directed staff to update department-specific details on the website.
