City Council approves updated pay schedules to comply with CalPERS

The Glendale City Council on June 30 approved updated publicly available pay schedules reflecting contract-mandated salary adjustments required for CalPERS compliance.
City Manager Golanian told the council the adjustments were a regulatory requirement under CalPERS and presented the master salary schedule for approval. “In order to comply, the city must maintain an approved publicly available pay schedule,” Golanian said. Amy Martin, assistant director of human resources, added that the increases were anticipated and incorporated into the fiscal 2026–27 budget: “The salary adjustments were anticipated and fully incorporated into the fiscal 26/27 budget.”
Councilmember Adrienne Brotman seconded the motion; the roll-call vote recorded affirmative responses from Brotman, Gharpetian, Najarian and Mayor Kassakhian. Staff confirmed no additional appropriations were required to implement the change.
The change updates effective dates for several bargaining units (July 1 and August 1, 2026) and was presented as an administrative action necessary to meet CalPERS regulations. The council did not amend the schedules during the meeting.
The approval concludes the agenda item; staff will publish the updated pay schedules as required and proceed with administrative implementation.
