Staff updated the committee on the Elmrove Park pedestrian bridge project. Program manager Maggie Dos said the borough received notice of an MCO 2040 grant award and that signed grant documents from the county were received the day before the meeting; staff will review and return executed agreements to the county.
Dos said utility relocation work is nearly complete—electric, gas and telecom lines have been moved and Pico has one remaining pole to install—after which catenary structures and contractor mobilization for bridge construction will proceed. Dos said access easements are being coordinated with landowners and Tim Rubin is working on easements.
Staff said the borough has $250,000 in construction funding committed, representing more than 50% of the estimated construction cost for the bridge. The borough is awaiting the DCNR grant decision, which staff said typically is announced in October or November; stream‑disturbance permits have been submitted and may take several months to process. Staff estimated construction would proceed in early spring 2027 if permits and additional grants align.
No formal votes were taken on the grant during the committee meeting; staff will finalize grant paperwork with the county and continue permit work.
