Staff said everyday traffic stops will remain "business as usual" and that, unless ICE produces paperwork indicating immigration violations, the county will not detain or house individuals for ICE. "We are not housing for them at all," a staff speaker said while presenting the memorandum. Staff also said the county submitted a request for a one-time stipend to help fund equipment and that ICE would reimburse mileage and hours for officers working under the agreement.
Staff told the board the county district attorney had reviewed the memorandum and found it acceptable. The board moved, seconded and recorded unanimous approval.
