The Stanhope City Council appointed Grant Young to its open seat at a regular meeting April 14 at the Stanhope Community Building. Tom Stupp moved to nominate Young; Jill Haman seconded the motion and the nomination carried on a 4–0 roll-call vote.
Grant Young read his oath of office at the meeting and joined the council immediately thereafter, returning the body to a five-member panel.
The appointment followed brief remarks from both candidates, Robert Johnson and Grant Young. The council did not record additional debate or conditions attached to the appointment in the minutes.
The meeting also recorded standard procedural business including approval of the consent agenda and the scheduling of budget-related public hearings for May 27.
