Lancaster County commissioners approve routine claims, renew contracts and schedule liquor-license hearing

The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners approved routine claims and a package of consent items at its April 28, 2026, meeting in Room 112 of the County-City Building.

The board voted 3-0, with Commissioners Christa Yoakum and Chelsea Johnson absent, to approve claims processed through April 24, 2026, and to accept late claims under Neb. Rev. Stat. §23-135, including a $10.24 claim from Fastenal Company dated April 27, 2026. Commissioner Matt Schulte moved and Commissioner Sean Flowerday seconded both motions, which carried on voice vote.

The consent agenda included contract amendments: renewal of C-24-0684 with Garcia-Chicoine Enterprises Inc for on-call guardrail repair and replacement services through June 30, 2027, not to exceed $40,000; renewal of C-23-0625 with Spectrum Paint Company Inc for paint and related products through July 31, 2027, not to exceed $2,000; and renewal of C-25-0312 with Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach to provide transitional housing and services for people leaving incarceration, not to exceed $50,000. The board approved the consent items on a single motion by Schulte and second by Flowerday.

The board also set a public hearing for May 12, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in Room 112 on a manager application filed by Christopher Britton for a Class B liquor license for Ely’s Service Inc dba Branched Oak Marina at 10001 West Davey Road, Raymond.

Actions taken at the meeting followed the county’s standard procedures for consent agendas and statutory notice; no dissenting votes were recorded.
