The Bolton Board of Education opened its meeting with a celebration of student and staff accomplishments. Board and school leaders recognized several student award winners, including Claire Hoffman, the recipient of the Daughters of the American Revolution youth leadership medal, and CAST/CAS Scholar Leader winners Claire Hoffman and Sam Tumin.
Larry Pease, who identified himself as a VoAg representative, introduced senior Avery Johnson, who described her four years in the Rockville AgriScience program and said she plans to attend Middlesex Community College before transferring to the University of Connecticut to study large-animal science and agricultural education. "My pathway is animal science and plant science," Johnson said, summarizing the program's hands-on options.
The board also announced Kean Kelsey as valedictorian and Tenisha Ray as salutatorian for the class of 2026 and thanked Grace Osborne for serving as the board's student representative. The board presented a lengthy tribute to fifth-grade teacher Ms. Allegretti, praising her roughly 40 years at Bolton Center School for creating lively classrooms, advising extracurriculars and supporting generations of students. The tribute noted that Allegretti often used costumes and spirit-day activities and that she had served in multiple grade levels over her career.
The meeting's ceremonial portion concluded with congratulations and photographs; the board then moved into routine business.
