"So that is why we are doing this," the mayor said, explaining the change was meant to preserve a long-standing community practice while addressing safety on busy roads.
The board opened and closed a public hearing on the measure after no members of the public offered comment, then voted to adopt the local law. The motion to adopt was moved and seconded and carried with the members voting in favor. The law is intended to resolve the police department's concerns about ambiguous code language while preserving informal play in residential streets.
The action followed standard local-procedure steps: public hearing, opportunity for comment, and a vote to adopt. The clerk will post the adopted local law and the village will circulate any required local-posting and notification materials.
