Planning commission forwards two Surl Ranch items to county commissioners

The El Paso County Planning Commission on July 2 unanimously recommended approval of two consent‑calendar items for Surl Ranch: a map amendment/reszone (file P2510) and a final plat (file SF2528). Both items were approved by roll‑call vote and will be forwarded to the Board of County Commissioners for further consideration.

Chair Tim Torbridge presented the consent items and Commissioner Murray moved approval of the rezoning (P2510) "in accordance with the attached resolution with two conditions and two notations and this item be forwarded to the board of county commissioner further consideration." Mr. Whitney seconded the motion and the roll call was unanimous.

For the final plat (SF2528) Commissioner Shipples moved approval "in accordance with the attached resolution with eight conditions, four notations, and with the finding of sufficiency for water quality, quantity, and dependability," and requested the item be forwarded to the Board; the motion was seconded and approved unanimously. Commissioners recorded no public comments on either item.

During the consent discussion, Commissioner Whitney made a brief, non‑substantive comment about Longhorns on the plaza. Both Surl Ranch consent items were forwarded with unanimous recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners.
