Allendale DDA citizens council recommends restated downtown development plan and 14th TIF amendment

The Allendale Charter Township Downtown Development Authority Development Area Citizens Council voted June 27, 2023, to recommend the 2023 Restated Downtown Development Plan and a 14th Amendment to the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Plan. Township Supervisor Adam Elenbaas facilitated the meeting and, together with DDA Chair Robert Chapin, presented the proposed amendment and restated plan.
Council members asked questions about the projects included in the amendment and how those projects meet the DDA’s stated purpose; members present included Donna Cargill, Gary Kleinjans, Steve Kushion, Mikal MacDonald, Matt Murphy, Summer Rietsma, Pierce Roon and Brenda Vredeveld. Supervisor Elenbaas opened a public hearing and later a public comment period; no members of the public spoke during either opportunity.
After discussion of the resolution language, the council agreed to correct a duplicated bullet in the "Resolved" section of the draft resolution, changing the duplicate "2" to "3." Member Matt Murphy moved to adopt the resolution recommending the 2023 Restated Downtown Development Plan and Tax Increment Financing Plan with that correction; Member Mikal MacDonald supported the motion. The motion passed. The minutes record the outcome as approved but do not list a roll-call tally.
