The presenter said district staff will promote use of DPR facilities where pools are reasonably available.
Board members pressed on practical implementation details. One member asked whether the standards provide for age‑appropriate strength training and whether schools have facilities where students can learn proper lifting technique. The presenter said indicators emphasize basic mechanics, form and the mind‑muscle connection across grade bands and that many foundational skills can be taught without specialized weight rooms.
On evaluation, the presenter said AIE will use observational rubrics, national resources and the DC School Health Profiles to monitor rollout and teacher practice. The timeline presented calls for an August vote, an implementation planning year in 2026–27, and full implementation by 2027–28.
