Board members discussed a potential digitization partnership with San Diego State University’s SAGE project. A board member said Jessica Barlow, a professor at SDSU who works with the SAGE project, is preparing grant applications to digitize historical materials and suggested National City as a candidate for inclusion in those proposals. Margaret said the project team would like to present to the board about their digitization work.
Cindy said she had made preliminary contacts and would invite the group to present at a future meeting, noting that SDSU students could assist with digitization and that joint grant applications often strengthen proposals. The board agreed to explore scheduling a presentation and developing a plan to identify historical documents and photos that could be digitized.
Next step: staff will invite the SDSU representative to a future meeting and work with the Friends group to inventory materials the project could digitize.
