The Brown County Planning Commission on Oct. 2, 2024 reviewed and approved a final version of its planning document and moved to submit that version to the County Commissioners and the County Clerk for publication of a public notice setting a public hearing on Nov. 6, 2024.
Chair Bill Vonderschmidt presided over the meeting, at which the commission first approved the Sept. 4, 2024 minutes (motion by Bill Seckler; second by Rex Lockwood). The commission then examined a set of final edits and corrections presented as the commission's approved changes by reporter Lafe Bailey.
The commission's listed edits included: adding a disclaimer addressing historical, treaty and private land transfers affecting Indian reservation lands (document page 5); adding the Kickapoo Water Treatment facility to the infrastructure listings (page 39); deleting a reservation map from the prior version (page 114) and replacing it with the reservation map used on the Land Use map (page 39); correcting typographical errors (including changing 'an' to 'and' on page 11, replacing 'word' with 'worst' on page 13 paragraph 5 as noted in the minutes, and removing an erroneous period in the name 'Albert Gallatin Brown' on page 12); and adding 'Hamlin' to the Town and County Land Use section (page 46).
Rex Lockwood moved to approve the Planning Commission's final version; Bill Seckler seconded. The minutes record the motion; the transcript does not explicitly record the final vote tally or state an outcome for that specific motion. The commission also moved to submit the final version to the County Commissioners and the County Clerk for publication of a public notice and to set a public hearing for Nov. 6, 2024 (motion by Rex Lockwood; second by Clif Heiniger). The minutes state the public hearing date as Nov. 6, 2024 as published by the County Clerk.
A motion to adjourn was made by Rex Lockwood and seconded by Bill Seckler; the meeting record includes a recorded time of 9:00 a.m. in the minutes.
Next steps: the record shows the commission has submitted (or directed submission of) the final document for publication and a public hearing scheduled for Nov. 6, 2024. The County Commissioners and County Clerk will publish the notice and hold the public hearing on the date specified; the transcript does not record subsequent County-level action or public-comment outcomes.
