Police Jury approves appointments, hires, surplus declarations and licensing actions

The Ouachita Parish Police Jury took a series of administrative actions on Oct. 21. The Jury appointed Mark Owens to the Board of Commissioners of the Ouachita Parish Mosquito Abatement District for a three‑year term and appointed Stacie Ford to the Citizen’s Advisory Committee on Solid Waste Disposal. The Jury approved hiring three part‑time juvenile detention officers (Rosalyn Harris, Tenisia Williams and LaRobert Cain) for Green Oaks Juvenile Detention and approved a travel request for Federal Programs staff to attend a youth symposium Nov. 18–20, 2024.
Chief Moore asked the Jury to declare multiple extrication tools and two older Chevrolet Tahoe SUVs as surplus and allow sale at public auction; the Jury approved the surplus declaration. The Assistant District Attorney, Mr. Mitchell, was authorized to issue a notice to Good Times Video Bingo to appear at the next meeting to show cause why its video bingo license should not be revoked for nonpayment of taxes; the Jury also authorized Mr. Mitchell to execute a cooperative endeavor agreement with the judges’ office for payroll services. Final subdivision approval for Lost Landing was granted subject to comments from Public Works and the parish engineer.
Mrs. Bacon moved to allocate $9,250 in ARPA funds to Ouachita Green; the Jury approved the allocation without opposition. These administrative actions were recorded as passed without opposition.
