Sharon Board of Education says it has no Sharon Center School tuition program; 11 tuition students reported for next year

At a May 19 special meeting held with the Board of Finance, Chair Philip O’Reilly called the Sharon Board of Education to order at 6:31 p.m. The Board of Finance asked whether the Sharon Center School operates a tuition program.
The Board of Education responded that it does not have a tuition program and said the matter "is a discussion they will have this summer." The board reported the current number of tuition students for next year as 11 students.
The exchange provided town officials with a concrete enrollment figure to inform budgeting and policy discussions ahead of the summer review. No formal action or vote on establishing a tuition program was taken during the meeting.
Attendance at the meeting included Superintendent Melony Brady-Shanley, Principal Carol Tomkalski, Business Manager Sam Herrick and Board Clerk Cindy Webb, along with board members Philip O’Reilly, Nancy Hegy Martin, Terry Vance, Peter Birnbaum, Chip Kruger and Pam Jarvis. Board member Terry Vance left the meeting at 7:40 p.m.
A motion to adjourn was made by Nancy Hegy Martin, seconded by Chip Kruger, and carried unanimously at 7:57 p.m. The Board of Education plans to discuss whether to establish a tuition program during the summer.
