Public Works committee greenlights drainage bids and interchange studies, accepts sewer completion

At its Oct. 7 meeting the Ouachita Parish Police Jury’s Public Works Committee reported several infrastructure actions.
The Jury authorized advertisement for bids on the D’Arbonne Hills Drainage Phase 1 project, which will address road drainage and be funded from the Public Works budget. The Jury accepted the substantial completion of the gravity sewer pipe from Avant Road to Lift Station I, as recommended by County Engineer Crosby.
On the Vancil Road interchange, the Jury approved a proposal from Neel‑Schaffer for the initial report and authorized Lazenby & Associates to prepare the Stage 0 report to advance planning for that interchange. These approvals were recorded as motions passing without opposition.
The Jury also adopted a resolution certifying compliance with federal and state bridge-inspection standards (Resolution No. 24‑45), which preserves parish eligibility for the Off‑System Bridge Replacement Program by confirming inspections, load-posting and inventory maintenance consistent with DOTD and AASHTO guidance.
