Police Jury approves multiple road, drainage and accessibility contracts and ARPA allocations
Summary
The Ouachita Parish Police Jury awarded construction contracts for Polly Anna Drive and Mary Street, approved a handicap parking project quote, allocated ARPA funds for Lakeshore Lift Station and Darbonne Hills drainage, accepted a Canyon Road paving quote, and authorized parking-lot work for the Fire Department and EOC.
The Ouachita Parish Police Jury on Sept. 16 approved multiple public-works contracts and allocated American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for infrastructure projects across the parish.
Engineer Mr. Crosby recommended awarding the Polly Anna Drive contract to D & J Construction Company LLC, the low bidder at $447,216.15; the Jury approved awarding the project and authorized the president to sign all necessary contract documents. The Jury likewise accepted the low bid for Mary Street from Amethyst Construction, Inc. for $412,059.00 and authorized contract execution.
Mr. Crosby presented quotes for a Cheniere Lake Area 3 handicap parking project; the low quote of $28,425.60 from Bentz Construction Group LLC was accepted and the president authorized to sign documents; Mr. Jimmy Tyson recorded an abstention on that vote.
The Jury authorized allocating up to $175,000 of ARPA funds for repair of Lakeshore Lift Station #6, subject to vetting of the project. Later in the meeting, the Jury approved authorizing Lazenby & Associates to proceed with parking-lot projects at the Fire Department shop and the EOC areas.
Mrs. Toni Bacon also secured a $500,000 ARPA allocation to prepare and repair drainage work at Darbonne Hills, where sinkholes require repair; Lazenby & Associates was authorized to prepare a construction cost estimate. The Jury accepted an Amethyst Construction quote of $16,600.00 to pave the Canyon Road shoulder to prevent erosion.
All motions relating to these projects passed without opposition except the Cheniere Lake handicap-parking award, which passed with one abstention (Mr. Tyson).
What happens next: the president is authorized to execute contracts and Lazenby & Associates will prepare estimates and proceed on authorized projects once procurement and vetting steps are complete.
