Fiscal Court approves rezoning on Highview Drive to allow multi-family development

Spencer County Fiscal Court on Monday approved a zoning map amendment for a Highview Drive property to permit multi-family residential development.
On motion of Esq. Pharris, seconded by Esq. Cotton, the court adopted the ordinance to rezone Tract 1 (1.025 acres on Highview Drive) from R-1 (single-family residential) to R-3 (multi-family residential), based on findings of fact and the Planning Commission’s recommendation. The roll-call approval recorded “Aye” from all members present; Esq. Eldridge left the room and did not participate in the vote.
The zoning change was entered into the minutes as an ordinance passed by the Fiscal Court. At the same meeting Emma Dawson was sworn in as the county’s Zoning Enforcement Officer, a staffing action the court recorded immediately before the ordinance entry.
The ordinance and the sworn appointment will be reflected in the county’s official zoning records and minutes, and the court attested the ordinance in the clerk’s record.
