Union County Council honors employees and recognizes longtime reporter’s retirement

Chairman Phillip G. Russell II presented service awards at the Oct. 8 Union County Council meeting to county employees with milestone years of service. Honorees and their departments included Cleve Brannon and Wayne Burgess (Public Works, 20 years each); Mark Pettit (Detention Center, 5 years); Elizabeth Dees (IT, 5 years); David Vinson (Sheriff’s Office, 20 years); Shannon Deaton (Sheriff’s Office, 30 years); and Amy Gibson (Clerk of Court, 10 years).
Chairman Russell also recognized Graham Williams of Union County News for 15 years of reporting on council meetings; the minutes state Williams announced that this meeting would be his last as a reporter for the newspaper. The presentations and recognition were part of the council’s opening agenda and were noted in the official minutes.
