At its June 23 meeting, the Pownal Conservation Commission approved the prior meeting minutes and covered several administrative and informational items.
Committee member Dick Hogue moved to accept the minutes as written; Chair Bob Van Milligan seconded and the motion passed with all in favor. The commission recorded that Hanae of the Royal River Conservation Trust emailed that the Elmwood Road Trail "all looks well" following recent weed whacking and will remain in touch about continued maintenance; Van Milligan proposed installing a suggestion box for trail users and Dick Hogue offered to help with placement and future maintenance.
Van Milligan presented a subdivision checklist aimed at highlighting potential environmental impacts from development; he said he will send a copy to the Planning Board. The Stetson proposal was mentioned as "up in the air." Attendees who had participated in the recent Town Meeting reported it "went well" but noted the town's unassigned funds account is low, making it unlikely the town would fund a conservation easement in the near term.
Selectboard Member Kate Day attended a ribbon-cutting at the new Estabrook facility on Route 9 and described the project’s environmental sustainability. The commission scheduled its next meeting for July 22 at 6:30 p.m. at Mallett Hall and adjourned at 7:26 p.m. Minutes were submitted by Wellens King.
