Centerville High School students were invited to the board meeting to display accomplishments from the annual regional art show. A teacher from Centerville described a traveling trophy created by local artist Tom Bartle that honors first-place winners and introduced three students who attended the meeting.
Ava Hawk, whose portfolio had five accepted pieces, won the show's top prize with a painting titled "Structure Mutism." Hannah Beaman, a Centerville sophomore, placed third in the fine-craft category for a pottery piece described as a multi-part chip-and-dip dish. Leona Beckett was also recognized for a chalk-pastel piece titled "Portrait of Brad." The teacher said roughly 60% of submitted student work from the district was accepted into the exhibition this year, well above a typical acceptance rate the presenter cited as about 35–38%.
The board offered formal congratulations to the students and allowed photos after the recognition. The presentation was marked as non-action and served to highlight student achievement.
