Centerville-Abington reports 122-student drop; board takes first reading on transfer and busing policy

Staff said the main historical barrier has been the number of available bus drivers but that several new drivers have passed tests and more are in training.
Staff described potential pickup locations discussed by administrators — including a Meyer parking-lot pickup used by nearby districts — and said the district has begun analyzing where a route would capture the largest number of students to keep the service cost-effective. The item was presented as a first reading; staff said the policy language and a related transfer application would be on a future agenda for final action.
Board members did not vote on C125 at this meeting. Staff emphasized the district would only place buses when ridership and financing make the route sustainable.
