Dawes County Board of Equalization approves vehicle tax-exemption renewal for Bethlehem Lutheran Church

Vice Chairman Jake Stewart called the Dawes County Board of Equalization to order at 9:00 a.m. on Oct. 14, 2025, and noted the Open Meetings Act posting per LB 898. Roll call showed Commissioner Juhlin present; Commissioner Rivera was excused. County staff in attendance included Deputy County Attorney Adam Edmund, Treasurer Sam Wellnitz, Highway Superintendent Wade Yada and Clerk Cheryl Feist.
Treasurer Sam Wellnitz presented a vehicle exemption renewal application for Bethlehem Lutheran Church for a 2016 Toyota and recommended that the board approve the church’s exemption status. Commissioner Juhlin moved to approve the exemption; Vice Chairman Jake Stewart seconded the motion. The board recorded a roll call vote with both Stewart and Juhlin voting yes; the motion carried.
Earlier in the brief session the board also approved the meeting agenda and the minutes of its Aug. 12, 2025 Board of Equalization meeting. Both procedural items were moved by Commissioner Juhlin and seconded by Vice Chairman Jake Stewart, with roll call votes recorded in favor.
There was no further business. The board adjourned at 9:06 a.m. The next Board of Equalization meeting is scheduled for Nov. 10, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. in the Commissioners Room at the Dawes County Courthouse; the agenda deadline and public inspection details were provided during adjournment.
