Dawes County commissioners accept 2025 highway certification, adopt Resolution No. 2025-29 and approve claims

The Dawes County Board of Commissioners met Oct. 28 in Chadron and moved through routine business, approving the agenda and finalized minutes that corrected a published error about erosion to a concrete pad.
Commissioner Jake Stewart moved to accept the 2025 Highway Certification and directed the board chairman to sign the document; Commissioner Walter Juhlin seconded. The motion passed by roll call vote with all three members voting aye. The board then adopted Resolution No. 2025-29 after Commissioner Stewart read the resolution aloud and Juhlin seconded; the roll call vote recorded Ayes from Stewart, Chairman Vic Rivera and Juhlin.
The board reviewed and approved submitted claims. Commissioner Stewart moved to approve all claims as submitted, seconded by Juhlin; roll call vote was Ayes — Rivera, Juhlin and Stewart. The minutes append a detailed audited claims listing spanning county funds and a range of vendors; the minutes say those claim and resolution records are available for public inspection at the County Clerk’s Office.
During board reports, Stewart noted a response from U.S. Sen. Fischer to the board’s earlier correspondence about BEAD (Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment). No public comment was taken at the meeting.
The board also handled routine administration: Treasurer Sam Wellnitz joined the session; departmental fee and mileage reports were accepted by general consent. The board adjourned at 9:37 a.m.; its next meeting and Board of Equalization are scheduled for Nov. 10, 2025, beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the Commissioner Room. The meeting agenda for Nov. 10 closed at noon Oct. 23, 2025.
