Ossining honors three longtime town employees as summer events and policing plans are announced

The Town Board of Ossining on June 23 honored three longtime municipal employees and heard a departmental report from the police on recent public-safety activity and summer community events.
Supervisor Elizabeth Feldman read proclamations recognizing Al Closy for 20 years of service in the assessor’s office, Patty Cunningham for 12 years in the tax office and Lynn Muller for more than 27 years with the senior nutrition program. Feldman said Closy "served the town of Ossining for 20 years with professionalism, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to public service." She noted Closy’s work defending assessments and serving as a CSEA union representative. Feldman said the town will present the proclamation to Muller at a transition meeting the following day.
Colleagues offered personal remarks. A colleague who identified himself as Mike praised Closy’s community relationships and mentorship to newer staff. Holly, a colleague in the tax office, described Cunningham as a calm, supportive presence who will remain on staff part time after retirement.
Police Chief Aron Zimberman and Lt. Andrew Mayorano delivered the departmental report. Zimberman said the department responded to 896 calls for service over April through June (252 in April, 316 in May and 328 so far in June), issued 383 traffic summonses during that period and reported 11 arrests, "mostly traffic related." He highlighted targeted commercial vehicle enforcement on Route 9A (24 summonses) and said the department will continue traffic enforcement as roads are repaved.
The department promoted community-engagement activities including "Kickball with a Cop" at Nelson Park, two Movies in the Park, National Night Out on Aug. 4 at the high school and continued "coffee with a cop" outreach. Zimberman advised attendees that the waterfront access road for the July 2 River Jam and fireworks will close at 3:30 p.m. on the event day and urged visitors to plan accordingly. He said coordination is ongoing with utility crews and public works on gas-line work and repaving on Route 133, with repaving expected after gas work is complete and DOT paving later this year.
The board invited family members of the retirees to take photographs and continued with the meeting’s regular business.
The town’s next procedural steps include presenting Lynn Muller’s proclamation at a transition meeting and continuing outreach and enforcement plans for summer events.
