Committee hears progress reports on I&I, Edgerton and Abbey sewer projects; Abbey testing delayed

Wastewater staff updated the Utilities Committee on three sewer-related projects and plant assessments.
Wastewater Superintendent Ed Haller said consultant GPD largely finished this year’s inflow/infiltration (I&I) work and that the city plans to continue similar mapping and modeling next year. Assistant City Engineer Brian Binsley reported that the Edgerton Road sanitary sewer main has been completed and crews are about 50% done with service connections; he said he does not yet have an estimated completion date. Vice Chair Joanne Krejci told the committee that, per the Health Department, resident hookups are typically required within six months of availability.
Haller said the Abbey Road sewer work is essentially complete but final testing is pending because crews are occupied with the Edgerton project; he expressed hope the testing could be completed before snow. He also reported that facility assessments of the A and B wastewater plants are underway and progressing.
No formal votes were taken on the projects; committee members asked staff questions about timing, weather impacts on testing and next steps. Haller and Binsley said staff will schedule final testing and return the new lines to service when testing is complete.
