Residents ask Byron council to address speeding on West Heritage Boulevard

Mayor Michael Chidester instructed Public Works Director Tiffany Bibb to make a sign near the Drugstore Deli more visible and to add another speed-limit sign. The mayor also asked Khoury and McBride to report repeat offenders to him and to Police Chief Wesley Cannon so officers can make a presence at problematic times; the residents agreed to try those steps first and follow up with the city.
No formal vote or ordinance was taken; the council directed staff to adjust signage and rely on resident reports and police patrols as an immediate response. Any decision to install traffic-calming devices such as speed bumps would require further evaluation by staff and possible future council action.
