Presenters told commissioners they were aiming for an April installation window and expected the new equipment to improve P25 compatibility and interoperability across the county’s emergency services. County staff also noted the new unit should be compatible with current radios used by ambulance and fire operations and would reduce day‑to‑day outages linked to dispatch desktop software problems.
Commissioners moved and seconded approval of the purchase and recorded a voice vote approving the expenditure; staff said the funds would come from 911‑designated funds and that the existing old radio equipment would be swapped out when the new unit arrives.
Next steps: staff will schedule installation with the vendor and confirm final pricing and delivery dates; the county will notify stakeholders when the swap‑over date is set.
