Maurice River Committee adopts consent agenda, moves forward on grants and shared-service implementation

The Maurice River Township Committee approved two ordinance first readings and adopted a package of routine resolutions at its Jan. 15 meeting, moving the township forward on multiple grant applications and shared-service planning.
On the ordinance docket, the Committee introduced Ordinance No. 762 (to exceed municipal budget appropriation limits and to establish a cap bank) and Ordinance No. 763 (amending fees for construction permits). Both ordinances were approved on first reading and a public hearing was scheduled for Feb. 19, 2026 at 7:30 p.m.
The consent agenda — adopted by a single motion — included Resolution No. 23-2026 authorizing submission of a Local Recreation Improvement Grant application to the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs for approximately $98,800 to install playground equipment at Leesburg Recreation Park. The resolution states the Township will accept the grant if offered and authorizes municipal signatories to execute the agreement.
Resolution No. 24-2026 was also adopted; it authorizes an application for a Local Efficiency Achievement Program (LEAP) Implementation Grant of $400,000 to support implementation of a shared basic life-support (EMS) service between Maurice River Township and Laurel Lake Fire & Rescue, with Maurice River acting as lead applicant. The text of the adopted resolution says the Township will accept the grant terms if awarded.
The Committee also approved a professional-services contract award to Triad Advisory Services, Inc. for grant-planning support with a not-to-exceed figure referenced in the resolution (documented in the minutes as $8,000 for general administration and finance OE). Additional consent items included ratifying an appointment to the Land Use Board, awarding an electronic tax-sale contract to RealAuction.com LLC, small-balance tax cancellations and transfers of overpaid 2025 taxes to the 2026 levy.
No contested votes were recorded on the consent agenda; roll-call votes on motions were recorded as Ayes — Sterling, Stowman, Whildin. The Committee did not adopt any final ordinances at second reading during the Jan. 15 meeting.
