Clerk reports mid-year finances on track; lead/copper inventory due to MDH and capital items noted

Clerk Anne Koliha told the Canton City Council on July 10 that mid-year finances are in line with budget expectations and that staff will begin work on the 2025 budget.
Koliha said WHKS has compiled responses to the lead/copper service-line inventory and is preparing a report to submit to the Minnesota Department of Health by mid-August. She also reminded council members the candidate filing period for mayor and two council positions runs July 30–August 13, 2024, and noted the city plans to budget for a lawnmower replacement in 2025 as part of a regular two‑year replacement schedule.
On public works, Mayor Josh Nordsving reported he will attend upcoming water and wastewater training in Rushford and that the city’s new snowplow truck is ready for pickup the following day.
The council took these reports as informational; no budget approvals or staffing changes were authorized at the meeting.
