Canton approves event permits: temporary liquor license for American Legion, fireworks and Main Street closure for Santa Day

The Canton City Council on Sept. 10 approved three event-related items: a temporary liquor license for the Canton American Legion on Oct. 11, 2025; a fireworks display following the Lighted Parade on Dec. 6; and a temporary closure of Main Street on Dec. 6 for the Santa Day Lighted Parade.
Councilmember George Hafner moved and Councilmember Jen Dowling seconded approval of the temporary liquor license for Oct. 11; the motion carried. Councilmember Jen Dowling moved and Councilmember Jeremy Hanson seconded approval of the fireworks display after the parade; that motion carried. Councilmember George Hafner moved and Councilmember Jen Dowling seconded approval of the Main Street closure for Dec. 6; the motion carried.
The approvals allow the American Legion event and the citys Santa Day parade to proceed with municipal permits; staff were not directed to prepare further conditions in the minutes. The council adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
