At a special meeting on Aug. 6 the board accepted the construction package recommended by project manager Rich Pontius. The general contractor award (Triad CM) and selected subcontractors produced a base total of $2,962,457. Accepting all alternates — including a sanitary sewer extension, landscaping, courtyard paving, basement painting, countertops, cabinetry and other exterior and site items — added $165,840, bringing the construction estimate to $3,128,297. Trustees also asked for a 5% contingency fund (~$150,000) for unforeseen conditions.
Trustees moved quickly to schedule pre‑construction work: a pre‑construction meeting was set for Aug. 16 at Station 80 (4164 Avery Road) and construction was to begin on Monday, Aug. 19. The board recorded that some low bids had been rejected as incomplete and that the selected bids were the next lowest qualified offers. The record lists the contractor assignments for plumbing, fire protection, HVAC, electrical and general construction and specifies the dollar amounts for each trade.
Why it matters: Station 83 is a multi‑million‑dollar capital project intended to broaden emergency response capacity for Norwich Township.
