Mineola trustees approve licenses, contracts and personnel items; building dept. reports active month

The Mineola Village Board on Wednesday approved a series of routine permits, contract changes and personnel actions during a short work session before the public meeting.
Motions approved included the three-year renewal of a pistol range license for Brit Firearms at 89 Mineola Boulevard; a taxi license for Jose Miranda for a $150 fee; authorization for the clerk of the Justice Court to attend the 2026 New York State Association of Magistrates Court Clerks conference in Albany, and a budget transfer of about $99,388.66 for the village pool fund.
The board also authorized change order #7 (WHM Plumbing) for $3,335 and change order #8 (WHM Plumbing and Heating) for $4,365.40 to the well one phase 2 water treatment contract; officials said both items are funded from bid item 5 and that the change orders do not alter the overall contract amount. Trustees approved surplus declaration and removal of a 2016 30-passenger firehouse bus from active inventory.
Personnel actions approved included hiring Dominic Lanana as a sanitation laborer, authorizing postings for a parks laborer and a water plant operator, and accepting the resignation of Dennis Gustavos with payout of accrued benefits according to the collective bargaining agreement.
In a departmental update, Building Department official Mr. O'Keefe reported issuance of 92 permits and completion of 72 inspections in June and noted progress on several larger projects including façade work at 111 2nd Street, construction nearing three stories at a project on 123rd Street, and excavation at 157–159 Jericho Turnpike.
