Mrs. Mattia Scharfstein told the board that a recent NJSBA County Association Leadership meeting focused on harassment, intimidation and bullying (HIB) and cell-phone use; she said new state legislation and rules are expected and that district policy and procedures will be updated once guidance is released.
On old business, Mr. Yacoub Yaghnam asked about 2025–26 preschool funding; Superintendent Steven Hagemann said the district’s requests have been submitted and that the district must await the state’s final funding determinations. Mrs. Scharfstein provided a regionalization update: the committee is awaiting presentations from Rowan and Kean (Rowan’s presentation was scheduled for the following night); once an application is submitted and accepted, the steering committee will be created and Mrs. Jennifer Herold was asked to attend the presentation as the new Board Vice President.
There were no public comments recorded during the public‑comment periods. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn by Carmen Pico, seconded by Avery Quayle‑Badolato; the board adjourned at 6:36 p.m. by unanimous voice vote (Yes 6, No 0, Abstain 0).
