The Stanhope Board of Education on Jan. 7 authorized the superintendent to appoint personnel to fill paraprofessional vacancies, substitutes and custodian substitutes through the February board meeting, a short-term delegation intended to expedite hiring between meetings. Superintendent Steven Hagemann presented the request to the committee.
The committee also requested movement on the salary guide for Ms. DiIonno to BA+30 effective Feb. 1, 2025. The minutes record a proposed appointment of Bonny Engelhardt as a part‑time (.60 FTE) Business Office Clerical Assistant at a prorated salary of $24,520 for the 2024–2025 school year, effective Jan. 13, 2025, pending criminal-history clearance and compliance with P.L. 2018, c.5. The minutes note a retroactive appointment of Jack Kopich as a substitute custodian effective Dec. 26, 2024; the district said maintenance work over the holiday break used substitutes while custodial staff were on paid leave.
The board discussed plans to advertise for an Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent around the end of February and to form a calendar committee to finalize the 2025–26 school calendar and draft the 2026–27 calendar; Mr. Yaghnam and Mrs. Jennifer Herold expressed interest in serving on that committee. The committee also indicated that at the regular meeting there will be a motion to approve an agreement with Rutgers to begin a Climate Survey.
The minutes do not record roll-call votes or formal approval votes for the personnel items listed here; several items are presented as committee recommendations or pending clearance. The matters will appear for action or ratification at subsequent board meetings as noted in the minutes.
