Stanhope Board approves retroactive paraprofessional appointment, substitute hires and custodian pay adjustment

On a motion presented and seconded during the personnel portion of the agenda, the board retroactively approved the appointment of Jeanette Nolan as a part-time (0.74) classroom paraprofessional for the 2024–25 school year at Step 1, $16,961 prorated, up to 29.6 hours per week, effective Jan. 27, 2025. The appointment is contingent upon criminal-history clearance and compliance with P.L. 2018, c.5. The board also approved an adjusted hourly rate of $16.00 for substitute custodian Marvin Valdez to assume additional maintenance responsibilities effective Feb. 20, 2025.
The board approved several substitute appointments pending required clearances and certification, including Paul Habicht (substitute teacher/aide, pending NJ Substitute Certificate), Patrick Pergola (substitute teacher, teacher certificate), and Jenna McClellan (substitute teacher, pending NJ Substitute Certificate). These personnel items were approved by roll-call vote with one absence recorded.
