The Stanhope Board of Education voted unanimously Dec. 18 to formally name Classroom #2 the Moscatello Center for Innovation in recognition of longtime board member Gil Moscatello.
The action was part of the board’s administrative approvals. On a motion presented by Yacoub Yaghnam and seconded by Thomas Valle, the board adopted the resolution naming the classroom effective immediately; the motion passed on a 7-0 roll call.
The renaming follows a brief dedication and presentation of a plaque to Moscatello and a gift basket to another member for service. According to the minutes, the board took a short recess to visit the newly named space and Moscatello’s family joined the board and administration for the event. "Mr. Moscatello thanked the Board, Administration, Community, Faculty and Staff for the dedication," the meeting record says.
The naming was recorded under the board’s administrative action items and is listed as effective immediately. No funding or renovation costs tied to the renaming were specified in the minutes; the record indicates the change is a formal renaming of an existing classroom (#2) and the STEM Lab will now be referenced as the Moscatello Center for Innovation.
The board adjourned routine business and moved on to other agenda items after the vote.
