The borough council on March 10 adopted Resolution 064‑26 expressing conditional support for New Jersey Leaf, LLC to pursue a local Class 5 cannabis retail license for 93 State Rt. 183 (Block 11402, Lot 42). The resolution makes clear that support is contingent on the applicant obtaining required approvals from the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission, the Stanhope Land Use Board, and local public‑safety and health officials, and on payment of local cannabis fees and taxes.
The council’s resolution does not itself grant a final local license; it authorizes the applicant to proceed with the state application and with required municipal land‑use and safety reviews. Mayor Wronko and council members noted the conditional nature of the endorsement and the need for subsequent compliance with police, fire, health and zoning requirements.
Why it matters: the resolution allows the applicant to seek Commission approval and signals municipal willingness to consider a local license if statutory and local conditions are met. The action does not alter zoning or permit retail operation; additional Land Use Board and licensing steps remain.
