The Springfield Board of Education approved multiple personnel actions at its April 28 meeting, including new hires, accepted retirements and resignations, substitute listings and changes to job descriptions.
Notable approvals included the hiring of several instructional aides and teachers (e.g., Kate Iglesias as an instructional aide; Marissa Lehnert as a mathematics teacher at JDHS effective Sept. 1, 2025; Joseph Pulice as a health and physical education teacher at FMG effective May 8, 2025). The board accepted the retirement of William Doring, culinary arts teacher at JDHS, effective July 1, 2025, and approved resignations from multiple staff members with listed effective dates.
The addenda included a Network Manager appointment (Jonathan Phillips, pending criminal-history clearance) at a prorated $110,000 and other staffing adjustments. The board also approved the abolishment of the Technology Coordinator position effective June 30, 2025 and adopted a revised job description for Director of Technology and Learning.
The board approved leave requests, substitute pay rates and coach/staff assignments for athletics and after-school programs. During new business the board approved a residency and tuition decision for student #1614; the motion carried with Jerry Fernandez recorded as abstaining and other members voting yes.
The personnel slate and calendar revision were approved by committee motions and roll call votes in the meeting. The board noted pending criminal-history background clearances where indicated for hires before those employees begin assigned duties.
