Springfield board approves personnel appointments, resignations and additional teacher compensation

At its Feb. 24 meeting the Springfield Board of Education approved a slate of personnel actions under the Board Governance agenda, including several new appointments, retirements and resignations.
Key appointments approved included Wendy Garrod as Title I Summer School Coordinator for the 2025 program at $8,600; Ashley Campos as a leave-replacement itinerant teacher for Feb. 18–June 30, 2025 at an annual rate of $61,467 (prorated); Joseph Amatelli as Head Custodian beginning on or about March 24, 2025 at $55,429 plus a $2,826.42 stipend; and Evan White as an instructional aide at $22.62 per hour. The board also accepted the retirement of Barbara Salort effective April 1, 2025, and the resignations of Maria Galvis (bus driver), Laurie Fielding (Payroll Benefits Specialist), and Michael Goerge (Physical Education Teacher) with the effective dates listed in the agenda.
The board approved additional substitute staffing and established pay rates for substitutes and paraprofessionals, and approved revised payments to teachers who taught additional classes in 2023–2025, with itemized amounts listed in the agenda packet. The motion to approve Board Governance items 1–15 and addenda item 33 was moved by Vice President Kristy Rubin, seconded by Mrs. Murphy and approved by roll call with board members recorded as voting Yes.
These human-resources approvals were routine agenda items and will be implemented through the district's payroll and staffing offices.
