At its Feb. 24 meeting the Springfield Board of Education approved a $180,467.40 capital reserve withdrawal to cover the district’s cost of JCP&L Direct Install Program projects as proposed by M&M Energy Solutions, Inc.
The agenda listed per-school project budgets and incentive amounts: Thelma Sandmeier School total project cost $308,223.30 with a Direct Install incentive of $212,106.30 and a district cost of $96,117.00; James Caldwell School total project cost $324,474.00 with an incentive of $240,123.60 and a district cost of $84,350.40. The board approved the withdrawal by roll call as part of Finance, Facilities and Security Items 22–32.
Separately, the board approved Certificate of Payment items for ongoing capital work. Notably, Payment #3 to H & S Construction & Mechanical for project #24.016 (District HVAC Upgrades) in the amount of $1,065,701.00 was approved. The board also approved payments to BRG Corporation for gym window replacement work at Jonathan Dayton High School and Florence M. Gaudineer Middle School as listed in the agenda.
The capital reserve action and certificate of payment were presented in the finance committee packet and approved by roll call; the agenda specifies that the Direct Install work will be bond-funded and administered through the proposed contractor.
