Residents used open forum and new business to press the township for code-enforcement action on several nuisance properties Nov. 7.
During open forum resident Brian Jones asked the board to take action regarding a neighboring property; the item was added to new business for follow-up. Maintenance documented an accumulation of cars at a property on 121st Street and reported photos had been taken; the board directed staff to send a letter and a copy of the township ordinance to the property owner. Maintenance also reported tires and junk on a neighboring property on 114th Street; the board directed a similar letter and ordinance copy be sent after maintenance provides photos.
Board members addressed a dog running at large in downtown Silver Creek; staff will send the complainant a copy of the township dog ordinance and will seek the owner's address from the resident who raised the complaint. During open forum, resident Bob Esse remarked, "it was too easy to vote," criticizing the board's decision process in the meeting.
The board did not record any fines or formal enforcement outcomes at the meeting; the items were forwarded to staff for follow-up letters and documentation.
